Imagine a unique facility that blends the concepts of church building and community centre...

Imagine a church facility that exists not only to meet the needs of its own members, but also to enrich and empower everyone in the greater community; a place where meaningful friendships are built, bodies are strengthened, and family ties fortified; a place where diversity is celebrated, life skills are learned and minds are stimulated; a place where broken lives can be healed, the needy cared for, and
faith developed.
Imagine a church facility where diverse peoples from throughout the community will gather together regularly not only for worship, but also for sports and recreation, children’s activities, youth gatherings, municipal events, concerts, intercultural festivals, support and recovery groups, and blood donor clinics. Imagine a place where neighbours can come and sip a hot coffee while they read a good book or enjoy conversation with friends.
This is the dream God has given us for our first facility – “Cornerstone Centre.”
Cornerstone has purchased a 6.4 acre site at the juncture of Donald Cousens Parkway and Ninth Line in Markham, on which we will build this special facility.
We anticipate that Cornerstone’s new facility will be built in phases. It is estimated that Phase One be approximately 30,000 sq. ft. The central feature of the facility will be a large multi-purpose "gymnatorium" designed to convert easily from worship centre to gymnasium to community event hall. Other anticipated facility features may include:
• A multi-purpose Atrium which can be converted into a venue for cultural and community events
• A Café with simple food service
• A dedicated Youth Lounge
• Multi-Purpose Rooms with interior partitions to adapt to a wide range of purposes
• An indoor Art Exhibition Hall for local artists to display their work
• Spaces for Outdoor Events
We refer to the envisioned facility as a “Bridge” that will help Cornerstone build strong connections with the life of the community-at-large. It will become a venue where Cornerstone can make many life-enhancing connections with our neighbours as this church seeks to serve the community in Jesus’ name. Just as the traffic flow on a bridge brings vitality to both sides, so the bridges we build into our community through this centre will catalyze our growth as followers of Christ, as well as create natural links through which our neighbours can be touched by God’s unconditional love in many practical ways.
